Intuitive painting gives a freedom to my expression. I can paint it all out on the canvas and although it may not look like anything in particular, it is splattered with emotion. Getting my feelings out and processing through them with paint is a form of medication for me.

It’s the end of the year and like a lot of folks I’m taking some time this week to look back on the past 12 months and simply acknowledge the fact that I made it through another year while honoring this most recent journey around the sun. As an astrologer and...

It’s hard to even know how to begin this post. It feels like so much has happened in a little less than two weeks. Since the USA election the world has been turned upside down and inside out and it’s scary and disorienting for me and a lot of people that are part of...
Sacred Neediness
During the opening circle of any of my intuitive painting workshops or retreats I always encourage my participants (who are usually primarily women) to practice the art of being needy, greedy and proud of it. As soon as the words come out of my mouth, I can hear the...

Sacred Space
The Desert She is a living being Undulating at the speed of primordial mystery Ancient secrets hidden in folds of sand Silent and windswept Open and unrevealed Unabashed in her nakedness She calls me into a spaciousness Both terrifying and holy Alien and once...
Astro Wisdom – Jupiter in Libra: Expanding Our Capacity For Connection
Once a year the planet Jupiter changes astrological signs and blesses us with the largesse of whatever qualities that particular sign has to offer. Jupiter is all about the spirit of generosity so the energy of the sign that it enters EXPANDS and impacts us all on...
Old Fire
I’m still surprised when I look in the mirror And see an old woman looking back at me But one thing that surprises me even more Than the wrinkling skin and the jiggly jowls Is that this old womans eyes are filled with fire This is not a cheery fire Creating a sense of...
Navigating Trickster Flow
I’m writing this blog post from one of my favorite places on the planet, the Ghost Ranch Conference Center in Abiquiu, New Mexico. I love Ghost Ranch for a million different reasons... the incredible red rock beauty, its connection with one of my creative mentors...
Staying Creatively Alive: Keeping Your Eyes Open, Your Juices Flowing and Your Shadow Greasing The Wheels
One of the things that I love about the creative process, at least most days, is how it keeps me honest. The truth is where the juice lies and as long as I’m “keepin it real” I am continually blessed with an abundant sense of energy and aliveness. However,...
Recovering Your Resilience When Everything Collapses Around You
I had planned to write about courage today. But as I sit here with my house in a total shambles because a drain pipe on my washing machine broke and flooded the laundry room, kitchen, living room and garage. AND I am preparing to leave in less than a week for my three...
Resistance, Desire and Sacred Willingness
Resistance is always connected to our desire and is often a combination of attraction and avoidance. We want to be more creative but we don’t pick up the paint brush. We want to be stronger in our body but we don’t go out of the house to take that walk. We want a...
A Prayer To The Great Mother
In honor of everything that is flowing around our psyches these days I wrote a poem as an invocation to the Great Mother Goddess. Many of us are going through some challenging times of shifting and opening, change and loss and need some extra added tenderness for the...
The Wisdom Of Resistance: Throwing Away Your Crappy Crystal Ball
At the core of all resistance is a deep longing. There’s something that you want. And you want it bad. But you’re afraid to let yourself really want it because you imagine that you will be disappointed. You don’t think you can bear the disappointment. You can’t see...
The Power Of Presence To Heal Resistance
I have been in the psychological, emotional and spiritual healing professions for almost 40 years. And how I define healing is the process of supporting people to live more fully from what is the most true and alive for them. To be all of who they are. To be...
The Deeper Emotional Truth About Resistance
In preparation for the upcoming class Resistance RX: Magic Mojo for Much Creative Momentum, I have been thinking a LOT about creative resistance. What it is. What it isn’t. How it works. And how to deal with it when it inevitably shows up. When I hear folks talk about...
The Heart Protecting Power Of Resistance
I’m getting really excited about my upcoming class with my pal Andrea Schroeder, Resistance Rx: Magic Mojo for Mucho Creative Momentum. And preparing myself for this class has me thinking a lot about the topic of resistance as something that creative folks deal with...
Resistance Rx: Magic Mojo For Mucho Creative Momentum.
Resistance and Creativity. Two mighty forces that constantly dance and bob and weave around each other as we expand our way into greater creative aliveness and wholeness. And learning to successfully navigate the challenging and often rocky waters of resistance is...
Redwoods
Reaching for the redwoods Opening my heart in wordless prayer Offering my heart in wordless devotion Asking for the blessings of wood and evergreen needles and branches To wash over and through me To shower me with the ancient grounded teachings of how to best live in...
Wild Heart Teacher Spotlight : Karen Palmer
Intuitive painting… me and a blank piece of paper, some paint and a brush is bliss. That doesn’t mean that it’s always “fun.” It’s about honoring and being with the authentic me. I don’t know of any other experience that has me look in the “mirror” so to speak and feel home. Feel safe. Feel loved. Unconditionally.
Keeping Your Heart Open In Hard Times
Like many folks I am in a place of stunned heartache over the world events of the past few weeks. It has made it seem almost impossible to find the words to even begin to speak to the confusion and fear and sorrow that seems to permeate so much of our collective...
Love Notes from a Creativity Junkie
Your creativity is a divine blessing freely given to you by spirit. You are born out of creativity and you yourself are a miracle of creation. And every last one of you was birthed to be creative. This creativity is a part of the original human packaging and comes...
Wild Heart Teachers Spotlight: Nadine Hamil
I facilitate with kindness, lots of love encouraging folks to have fun, laugh, sparkle, play, paint their hearts out and ask for what they need or want. They are given the opportunity to uncover masks and reveal whom they really are.
Archetypes, Superpowers And Your Astrological Sun Sign
I am madly in love with the whole idea of archetypes which I am defining as legendary and idealized human roles and ways of being. Some examples of these archetypal roles are mother, father, artist, trickster, witch, warrior, priestess, hero, gypsy, cowboy, goddess,...

The forest is my church My solace A constant reminder of what’s good and true and holy My sacred connection to the beating heart of the world A tender mother feeding my soul with ferocious beauty A living oracle A deep immersion into a consciousness so much bigger, so...
Celebrating Women To Be Creatively Too Much and More
I just got back from facilitating my NINTH round of the Wild Heart Expressive Arts Teacher Training Program and it was as powerful and magical as ever. One thing I love about this program and my expressive arts work in general is that it simply never gets old. I am...
Wild Heart Teachers Spotlight: Lara Printz
I have recovered a whole “magical” side of me I didn’t realize I had lost. Through the intuitive painting process, I believe I have been able to express myself in ways I have longed to. I have learned that I can create my own rules, and do it my way and as a result, really step into my super bold playful self-expression, my jovial kindred spirit, my innovative visionary genius.
