Your writing is amazing.

There are so many parts of this article that spoke to me - but what was most incredible is your openness to so many different expressions of what art really is.

I have a secret for you - art scares me. Not anyone else's art - but I'm one of those people who would LOVE to be creative and can't do it. I just am too scared of screwing up.

My dream is to one day develop enough courage and have the resources to attend your workshops because I have a feeling that would inch me along and help me discover a part of myself that wants encouragement, support and love.

Thanks for bringing this up for me to think about.

Beautiful choice of words here and wonderful post!

"Claiming the freedom to be ourselves is a sometimes difficult process where we have to come up against those firmly ingrained and often entrenched beliefs.

We want to be accepted. We want to fit in. We want to be valued. We want to belong.

And ultimately, we want to feel safe."

And YAY! to lime green!
Thank you!

Great post! You're making me feel old by saying people now are too young to remember Cheech and Chong (although I must admit I was pretty young when they were big). I love the twist that he collected great art!

I appreciate your fearlessness in the creative realm!

Oh wow, yes!
I'm quite familiar with Cheech and Chong (Tommy went to my parents high school.) but wasn't aware of Cheech's art collection.
Amusingly enough, my problem has been using more toned down colours...and red. Recently I took myself way out of my comfort zone by using red as a background for one of my paintings. I'm so happy I did so because the result is incredible and I really can't stop looking at it. I'm so excited to share it with the world, but must wait as it's been done as a Christmas gift.
