It hurts me in the heart I can't check out your workshops. My sales figures are very thin these days due to this disgusting economy, as I am sure your workshop attendance has been effected. I hope hit hasn't by all means.

My paychecks are covering overdrafts over overdrafts, and I am going to have to undergo a breast biopsy surgery, because they found a phyllode (pronounced PHY loyd) at the six o'clock location of my right breast. It's benign now, but if it isn't removed, it could become cancer.

Fortunately I do a lot of practicing as an artist. I don't use big canvases right now, mainly use typing paper, oil crayons and markers. I see things in photos, and then go to my drawing and writing tools and try to create it myself. That helps.

Hi Leah,

Thanks for stopping by! Yes, I am actually planning on adding more of my art to my blog once I get my WordPress site up and running. But thanks for asking!

Hugs,
Chris

Someone posted a quote on Twitter today from Tony Robbins: "Your success in life is in direct proportion to the amount of uncertainty you can comfortably deal with."

Um... what?

I don't exactly find that comforting.

But you're right, of course. Positive thinking and intention only get us so far. What are we supposed to do when the Universe smacks them back to us? I'm afraid I still to my share of catastrophizing when the shit storms start. Maybe I'll eventually get worn out, too. Is it wrong to be looking forward to that?

And "I had shot my catastrophe wad" was the funniest thing I've read all day.

Good luck tomorrow! I'll be thinking of you. :)

And I thought I was the only one who reacts to medical procedures, medicines and even VITAMINS like no one else! And yes, if there is a calamity, I expect it to affect me, even if it's on the other side of the world. I am a trauma survivor and I this article was good for me to hear. Not just because I could identify with you and your ill-informed optimism, LOL, but because your spirit, your attitude is so UP it makes me feel good.

I don't have what you have at home, a free, creative relationship where we are both vulnerable and my art is integrated into my life (it's part of me but not my life). I am the scapegoat. The weird one. I'd like to feel more equal in this but it is what it is.

I have panic disorder so I'm not sure i could just swear off catastrophic thinking, but I try sometimes. Good for you if you are able to keep it up!

Chris, you're an amazing light. I too wonder a lot about the Power of Intentions - it's a zillion times more complicated than they'd try make you think. And the idea that we can control the future with our thoughts ... well, as you suggest, we should try, but not expect. Being positive and thinking affirmatively make for greater happiness, but you have to balance that with an ability to not take offense when your plans are thwarted. The contradiction is a major mystery of life - to which, it sounds like, you have been initiated!

What a terrific and poignant example of the power of STOP! to help create freedom from the mind's endless merry-go-round.
Congratulations. :)
